Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer reflect on the end of Broad City Over the weekend at , the final three episodes of were screened in for a packed house. Ahead of time, creators/stars and spoke to ComingSoon.net about ending their run after the fifth season, and the growth they’ve done as writers, creators, and themselves. “We truly were growing up right next to the characters,” Jacobson said, referring to the semi-autobiographical nature of the show. “I think it’s just finding the different parts of ourselves that we want to amplify and that we’d want to give to the characters over the past six years.” “Also, we’re both growth-centric individuals,” added Glazer. “I think Broad City has been created from the inside out: as we keep growing as individuals from the inside out, we’ve brought that to Broad City, and then used Broad City to reflect back.” Though the show is heavily influenced by the pair’s real-life experiences, Glazer acknowledged the growing sense of responsibility they’ve felt over the past five seasons toward their increasingly devoted audience. “We are lucky enough to be the vessels carrying this thing and channeling this thing,” Glazer began. “We’re just the girls that we are, and we’ve been the girls that we’ve been, but you need an audience to validate and to interact [with]. So much of Broad City is in the audience and what we’ve just received from them. So, in raising our consciousness about this privileged tool that we have to communicate with people, we’ve felt increasingly responsible to our audience over time.” Jacobson also gave credit to Comedy Central, which always remained open-minded about the show’s evolution, helping make the show a success. “As we grew as writers, we wanted to talk about more and make the show juicier and meatier,” Jacobson said. “They were such incredible collaborators and truly just let us go, and that is huge.“ The last few episodes of Broad City will air every Thursday on . The movie-length episodes of the 12-part series will stream monthly. Each installment will center on a holiday that takes place within that respective month. Crawford’s episode will revolve around Father’s Day for the month of June. Details about the episode or the character Crawford is playing has not yet been revealed. Each episode is inspired by a holiday from the month of its release, but all will feature Blumhouse’s signature genre/thriller spin on the story. Blumhouse Television, drawing on its deep talent relationships, is working with a broad section of filmmakers, creators and actors to bring this unique, first-of-its-kind series to Hulu audiences. The first story, “The Body,” premieres on Friday, October 5. Set in the selfie culture of Los Angeles on Halloween night, “The Body” follows a sophisticated, overconfident hitman who always carries out his work in style. He decides to take things even further one day by transporting his latest victim in plain sight, correctly assuming that self-absorbed LA partiers will simply be enamored with his elaborate “costume.” Eventually, as his window of opportunity to dispose of the body begins to close, Wilkes’ true colors reveal themselves to some groupies that have latched on to him. It becomes a battle of will and wits. Based on a short film of the same name, “The Body” will be directed by Paul Davis and will star Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express, Vanity Fair) as Wilkes, the suave, professional hitman, and Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Mindy Project, Blood & Oil) as Maggie, a feisty, whip-smart, woman who becomes captivated by Wilkes the more she learns of his real profession. Aurora Perrineau (Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare) plays Dorothy, who uses her cynicism and resourcefulness to try to outwit Wilkes. She is joined by David Hull (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Insecure) as Allan, and Ray Santiago (Ash vs Evil Dead, Meet the Fockers, In Time) as Jack – both are Hollywood and Internet wannabes whose cluelessness complicates the evening time and again. The script was co-written by Paul Fisher, who will also serve as a producer on the project, and Davis. Alexa Faigen (Safe House, Love Happens) is executive producing for Blumhouse. Into the Dark’s second installment, to be released on Friday, November 2, will be “Flesh & Blood,” directed by Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine, Dracula 2000). Set on the eve of Thanksgiving a year after her mother’s death, Kimberly begins to suspect that she is in danger in the home, but she can’t leave and doesn’t know who she can trust. Marvel Studios producing What If TV series adaptation for Disney+ is reporting that Marvel Studios is set to produce a What If TV series adaptation for Disney+. Based on the popular comic book series of the same name, Kevin Feige will oversee the animated series which will not be canon in the MCU. What If is an animated anthology series that will explore how the Marvel Cinematic Universe might have unfolded if key moments in its history had not occurred as they did in canon. For example, what if Loki had found the hammer of Thor? What if the X-Men died on their first mission? The story possibilities are endless, and there’s potential for main actors from the live-action movies to reprise their roles in the animated series. Each episode would tackle a different story, focusing on tales told in alternate universes. The original What if comic book series debuted in 1977 and over time 200 issues have been published. The stories ranged from the impossible to the ridiculous as Marvel looks to use the streaming service to tell more out of the box stories unachievable through live-action. The animated series could take examples directly from the comic book series, or they could imagine a few new stories to explore. Other examples from the comic books that may or may not make their way into the animated series include: What if Captain America hadn’t vanished during World War II? What if Spider-Man didn’t become a crimefighter? What if Thanos joined the Avengers? The service, which has been in development for nearly three years now, is already set to have an extensive library of original content upon its expected fall 2019 debut, from the TV spin-offs of the Star Wars franchise, The Mandalorian, a prequel series to the Rogue One spin-off focusing on Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor and a seventh season of the acclaimed animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Disney+ is also developing a series adaptation of the Disney Channel hit film franchise High School Musical and the 2000 romantic dramedy High Fidelity, along with a live-action remake of the studio’s classic love story Lady and the Tramp starring Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok) and Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) in the lead voice roles. The series stars (Blended, ) and (Justified, Deadwood) as lovebirds Sheila and Joel Hammond. Through it all, the couple remain grounded by their unconditional love for one another. Sure, being undead — or loving someone who is — isn’t always easy, but don’t all relationships have their challenges? Santa Clarita Diet also stars Liv Hewson (Dramaworld) as Abby Hammond and Skylar Gisondo (Vacation) as Eric Bemis. The series comes from showrunner Victor Fresco. New Killing Eve season 2 trailer: Eve is losing her mind BBC America has a new trailer for the upcoming and highly-anticipated second season of their hit drama series . The video features new scenes from the season 2 while highlighting Eve and Villanelle’s deepening obsession with each other. Starring Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) and Jodie Comer, the show is set to return on April 7. Check out the video below! The series has recently earned two nominations for Best Drama Series and Best Actress in a Television Series Drama for Oh’s performance as the titular character. Season 2 will dive into the ramifications of Eve stabbing Villanelle in the Season 1 finale. Executive producer and head writer Emerald Fennell told the outlet: “Eve has done something, which may have changed her forever, that will have repercussions with every relationship in her life.” Oh also teased how the relationship between Eve and Villanelle “progresses and deepens” in the second season, while Comer says to expect much more creative kills from Villanelle in Season 2. Based on the novellas by Luke Jennings, BBCA’s Killing Eve centers on two women; Eve is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade security services operative whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle is an elegant, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. Killing Eve topples the typical spy-action thriller as these two fiercely intelligent women, equally obsessed with each other, go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse. The first season of Killing Eve capped with an unbroken record of weekly ratings growth in the key adults 25-54 and 18-49 demos, which has not been accomplished by another series on television in over a decade. Oh received an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Eve Polastri, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drame Series. The Television Critics Association named Killing Eve the Best New Show when the first season aired. Damon Thomas has returned to direct the second season and will executive produce with Lisa Brühlmann and Francesca Gregorini also set to direct. Killing Eve is produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd and executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Gina Mingacci, and Emerald Fennell with Sandra Oh co-executive producing. Elinor Day serves as series producer. The second season is currently shooting in Europe. The post appeared first on .
gen:LOCK Season 1 Episode 8 Recap In the of ’s , Team gen:LOCK arrived at a RTASA facility and modded their holons. In the season finale of gen:LOCK, the team needed each other to defeat Nemesis. Migas Returns Miguel finally got through to Cammie. They had survived the nanotech by mimicking the signal from chips that Union sympathizers carried around to shield them during attacks. The idea originally came from Dr. Weller. Miguel sent Cammie the signal so she could work with. Sweet Home Chicago The team headed to Chicago where the Union was invading. They planned to isolate Nemesis by using Chase to taunt him. Nemesis had been upgraded with more dynamic nanotech. Unfortunately, the Union had patched the nanotech signal, and Nemesis was listening in on their network. Cammie convinced the team to mindshare. She mindshared with Kazu, but Chase refused to join them. Valentina and Yaz merged too. Yaz tried to convince Chase to let go and change. Unfortunately, they had consumed too much uptime. Chase bought the rest of the team some time to download and reset their uptime. However, he exceeded the uptime limit and lost his ability to go back to his body. The Cavalry Arrives Despite his age, Leon uploaded to Sinclair’s holon, and Miranda’s presence disturbed Nemesis. Chase realized that since consuming uptime no longer mattered, he could mod anything. The team was back in the Cyberbrain, and Chase warned them that, without his body, he could turn into Nemesis. The difference was that they had each other. They latched onto Nemesis Chase inside the Cyberbrain, and Cammie was able to shut down the nanotech. Together, they defeated Nemesis, but inside the Cyberbrain, he revealed there were more copies to be defeated. Aftermath Uploading had been hard on Leon, but downloading left him in a coma. Col. Marin wanted the team to return to the Anvil. Chase talked to Miranda about how they both needed to move on. They would stay at RTASA, but Miguel would stay with them as their connection to the Vanguard. The after credits scene revealed Sinclair, possibly the real one, was alive and dressed in Union gear. HBO will not be Crashing for a fourth season has brought word that HBO has decided to pass on renewing the Pete Holmes-starring comedy series Crashing after three well-received seasons on the premium cable network. The news, which was officially confirmed by HBO on Friday, was initially announced by executive producer Judd Apatow on Thursday night’s episode of Conan, which can be viewed in the player below, jokingly stating they decided they would stop making episodes after being told they should not make any more episodes. Crashing’s third season finds Pete reinvigorated, meaning he no longer crashing on people’s couches. With this newfound vigor, he reenters the NYC stand-up comedy world following a college tour. But even though he’s improved, that doesn’t mean he’s at the head of the pack. While continuing to orbit around fellow comic and ex-girlfriend Ali, he connects with a new woman, Kat, who has a unique perspective on the comedy world and isn’t trying to make it big by telling jokes. As Pete edges closer to success one stand-up set at a time, he continues to navigate his faith, dating and the ever-changing comedy scene. The series is executive produced by Holmes, (Girls, The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling), Judah Miller (Playing House) and Igor Srubshchik (Master of None). Series veterans featured on season three of Crashing include: Lauren Lapkus (Animals) as Pete’s ex-wife, Jessica; George Basil (Wrecked) as Leif, Jessica’s former lover; Jamie Lee (Girl Code) as Ali Reissen, a fellow comic and former love interest; Zach Cherry (You) as Pete’s manager, who goes by Chicken Wing; Dov Davidoff (Shades of Blue) as Jason; Jermaine Fowler (Superior Donuts) as Russell; and Aparna Nancherla (BoJack Horseman) as Anaya. Madeline Wise (Peacekeepers) joins the series in the recurring role of Kat, an outgoing city girl who inspires Pete to get serious about his career. Despite a large increase in ratings for the series’ third season compared to the lower second season’s, and steady positive reviews from critics and audiences, HBO will end the series after the third season, which is set to conclude on March 10, but Apatow teases that a film follow-up is in talks between himself and Holmes.
