Russian Doll Season 1 Recap Netflix’s season 1 followed Nadia as she relived her death over and over again. Alan was also reliving his death, and they were connected. While those around her and Alan appeared unaffected by the time loops, they emerged changed, possibly for the better. To close out our season 1 recaps, we are reviewing the impact the time loops had on Nadia and Alan. Nadia’s Apathy At the beginning of the season, Nadia appeared to go through life as if she didn’t care what happened to her or anyone outside of her friends. Constantly dying and facing her own mortality gave Nadia a new appreciation for her own life. She also went out of her way to try and save others, like Horse, Ruth, and Alan, with the knowledge she gained through the loops. Nadia and Her Past Nadia’s mother, Lenora, killed herself when Nadia was young. Nadia felt she had betrayed her mother by going to live with Ruth. This feeling that she was messed up had affected her relationship with John and drove her refusal to meet his daughter, Lucy. Through the loops, she was forced to confront her younger self and the memories of instability from when her mother was alive. Nadia finally met Lucy and gave Lucy her favorite book. Alan and Letting Go Alan was extremely buttoned-up, and it affected his relationship with Beatrice. She had cheated on him with Mike, and it made him depressed and bitter. He confronted Mike at Nadia’s party, but the realization that his loop started with killing himself was devastating for him. With Nadia’s help, he accepted his break-up with Beatrice and was able to move on. Nadia and the loops shook him out of his need for constant perfection in his life. If you’ve missed a recap or want to revisit the entire first season of Russian Doll, check out our full list of recaps below. The post appeared first on .

American Gods renewed for third season with new showrunner has brought word that the acclaimed Starz adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s 2001 novel American Gods has been renewed for a third season on the premium cable network with Charles “Chic” Eglee attached as the new showrunner. The second season of the epic fantasy series saw a lot of developmental issues behind the scenes as original showrunners, Bryan Fuller and Howard Green, exited halfway through the writing process due to creative differences and were replaced by Gaiman and Heroes alum Jesse Alexander, only for Alexander to be fired by Starz right before production was slated to begin on the eight-episode second season and Gaiman being busy with the BBC/Amazon Prime adaptation of his novel Good Omens, which he wrote and was the showrunner on. “Audiences continue to worship at the altar of American Gods and we are excited to be able to announce to all the true believers that there is more of this fantastical series to come,” said Starz programming boss Carmi Zlotnik in a statement today “With Chic at the helm, the invaluable insight and contributions of Neil Gaiman and the undeniable talent of this dedicated cast and crew, we know that the show will continue to deliver on the vision and promise laid out in the novel.” Eglee is well-known for his work writing on and executive producing numerous hits including the acclaimed Showtime crime comedy Dexter, Jessica Alba’s breakout in the short-lived series Dark Angel, FX’s police drama The Shield and AMC’s long-running post-apocalyptic drama The Walking Dead. The decision to hire Eglee comes a week after the second season debuted on Starz to high ratings for the network. “I’m thrilled American Gods has been renewed for a third season, and even more thrilled that I’m getting to work on it with Chic Eglee,” EP Gaiman said “Chic is the best partner-in-crime. We’ve been working for weeks now on the shape of the season and I’m delighted that he gets to carry the American Gods torch on to glory. Thank you to Fremantle, Starz and Amazon for having faith in the series, to Bryan, Michael and Jesse for bringing it this far, to all the cast and crew, and most of all to the viewers. It’s their love of the characters that took us to this point, and will take us on to the next chapter.” We were forged in God’s image, but the Gods are also made in ours — and in Season Two the battle moves inexorably toward crisis point as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World plots revenge for the attack against him in Season One, Shadow throws in his lot with Wednesday’s attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice. stars Ricky Whittle (The 100, Austenland) as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane (Deadwood, Ray Donovan) as Mr. Wednesday, Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Legend) as Laura Moon, and Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black) as Mad Sweeney. Other cast members include Yetide Badaki (Aquarius, Masters of Sex) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Technical Boy, Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) as Mr. World, and Orlando Jones (Madiba, Sleepy Hollow) as Mr. Nancy. Based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name, the series is set to return on March 10. The post appeared first on .

The CW’s Nancy Drew pilot adds Freddie Prinze Jr. as Carson Drew Freddie Prinze Jr. (Star Wars Rebels) has joined The CW’s pilot as Nancy’s father Caron Drew, has confirmed. The pilot is based on the long-running mystery novel series by Edward Stratemeyer. Prinze’s Carson is a dynamic attorney who has become estranged from Nancy following the recent death of his beloved wife. His attempts to reconnect with her run aground when Nancy’s murder investigation reveals unsettling secrets from Carson’s past. Prinze’s last live-action series regular role was in Season 8 of Fox’s thriller 24 back in 2010. His recent credits include Star Wars Rebels, Robot Chicken, Movie Trivia Schmoedown, and Bones. The actor is best known for his work in She’s All That, Scooby-Doo, I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise, and the TV series Freddie. Prinze joins cast members Kennedy McMann (Law & Order: SVU), (Florence Foster Jenkins), Maddison Jaizani (Versailles, Into the Badlands, Tyrant) and Alex Saxon (The Fix, The Fosters, Finding Carter). The Nancy Drew pilot centers on 18-year-old Nancy Drew (McMann) and is set in the summer after her high school graduation. She thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation. Along the way, she uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined. From Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire and CBS TV Studios, the Nancy Drew pilot is written and executive produced by Noga Landau, Schwartz, and Savage, and is directed by Larry Teng. Melinda Hsu Taylor also serves as executive producer. A number of attempts to capitalize on Nancy Drew have come and gone over the years, dating all the way back to 1938 when Warner Bros. first purchased the character created by Edward Stratemeyer as a counter to his Hardy Boys series. Most recently, a 2007 film from Warner Bros. starring Emma Roberts fizzled at the box office ($30.7 million worldwide on a $20 million budget) and with critics (49% on Rotten Tomatoes), thus canceling the studios . NBC attempted to last year via Doubt creators Tony Phelan, Joan Rater and Dan Jinks and, funny enough, CBS TV Studios with Nancy Drew, featuring an older incarnation of the character. The show never materialized. CBS Studios, Phelan, Rater and Jinks also previously adapted the character into Drew starring Sarah Shahi, which went to pilot and got close to a series order, but was ultimately scrapped. Drew likewise served more as a sequel to the books and featured a much older, grittier version of the character. Currently, there’s a Nancy Drew from Ellen DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, and Red 56 titled Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, starring It’s Sophia Lillis as the titular hero. The film, directed by Katt Shea (Poison Ivy) from the screenwriting team of Nina Fiore and John Herrera (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Vampire Diaries), focuses on Nancy Drew, a smart high schooler with a penchant for keen observation and deduction, who stumbles upon the haunting of a local home. A bit of an outsider struggling to fit into her new surroundings, Nancy and her pals set out to solve the mystery, make new friends, and establish their place in the community. No release date has been announced for the film adaptation, which is currently in post-production. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) The post appeared first on .

This Is Us Season 3 Episode 15 Recap In the of NBC’s , Kate went into labor while taking Kevin to a sobriety meeting, while Randall asked Beth to put her dance teaching on hold. In This Is Us season 3 episode 15, the family waited for news about Kate and the baby. Chocolate or Ranch Kevin, Randall, Rebecca, Miguel, Zoe, and Beth had been staying in the waiting room for twenty-six hours. Finally, Kate’s doctor came out to talk to them. He had her on drugs to delay labor, but this risked infection. While they waited, everyone was on edge. Miguel tried to break the ice by playing a game where they had to name a food that wouldn’t be better with either or chocolate or ranch. Rebecca spent her time pointing out the little details of the room. When Randall and Kevin’s bickering got too much for Rebecca, she explained how she knew everything about the waiting room from the night Jack died. She felt that nothing else mattered besides Kate and the baby. Randall and Kevin had better put away whatever else they were feeling. Changing Tones Randall and Beth had not resolved their argument. Beth resented Randall asking her to put dance teaching on hold, while Randall felt that he couldn’t back out after the election. They needed a salary from Beth to pay for childcare. When Randall and Beth asked Miguel and Rebecca if they could take that on, they explained they had been thinking of relocating to California to be there for Kate and the baby. Randall and Beth resolved to figure it out themselves. Water Bottle Everyone knew now that Kevin had relapsed. He was on edge in the waiting room without any news. After telling Madison, who arrived with doughnuts, that she shouldn’t be there, he left for a while and came back with a bottle of water. Zoe tried to talk to Kevin about it. She had been willing to stay with Kevin despite his problems. Kevin told her that he couldn’t deal with his relapse without her. Zoe revealed to Beth that she knew Kevin’s water bottle contained vodka. Jack Kate had an emergency C-section, and her and Toby’s son was born premature. When Toby took Kate to see him, she told Toby that she wanted to name him “Jack”. Kate prayed and spoke to her father to help save her son’s life. She brought out a Ruth Bader Ginsburg doll that Madison had retrieved for them as part of her birth plan. Kate reassured Toby that everything would be okay.
